newbie Wheel Question
2006 Lexus GX 470
Another "newbie" question
Want to take off stock wheels and put on simple black wheels like BlackRocks.
Wheel size 17"
Bolt Pattern - 6x5.5
When I go to websites and find find wheels that I like....that match up perfectly with bolt pattern, etc.....when I enter my vehicle the website will say "these wheels don't match your vehicle". What am I missing? I will be running stock tires 265 / 65 /17
I went to a local tire dealer and discussed with him. He told me if the bolt pattern matches I should be fine....and to make sure I order proper lug nuts as well
One other note....I get the stock wheels have a +25 offset, wheels I like have a 0 offset or -12 offset.
Help me out....thoughts...

... also Hub Diameter ... 106.1mm for Toyota/Lexus trucks ... important for wheel centering ... meaning Hub Centric. Do NOT go with a non 106.1mm wheel by using Centering Rings ... they suck ... friends don't let friends use Centering Rings.

... agree ... additional offset can create interference with the front body mount ... and with the front underside of the bumper. Do your research ... much information on this forum.

One more dumb question....I understand the hub is 106.1 and that centering rings are not the best option. Wheels that I am looking at have a center bore of 108.71 or 112.1
Will the above center bore diameters work without centering rings?.......I really like the wheels with the 112.1 center.

Those are the wrong diameter. It must be 106.1 or you must use centering rings (which cause their own problems).

The GX is highly sensitive to front wheel imbalance. While in theory centering rings should work ... in reality the wheels will never be perfectly centered compared to a 106.1mm wheel.
Beyond that ... many centering rings are made of Delrin ... a hard plastic ... or Aluminum ... both of which will yield and over time not provide accurate centering.
And beyond all of that ..tire stores will remove your wheels for service ... and a centering ring will roll off across the shop ... and the wheel will be reinstalled without their knowledge that the ring is missing ... and you as a customer will not know until the wheels have that subtle highway speed shake .... so you will always be guessing if the issue is balancing or centering. And then when you go back to address ... they will not have a replacement centering ring that fits your wheel/hub combination.
SERIOUSLY ... DON'T GO THERE ...
There are enough 106.1mm wheels available ...
