Transfer Case Warranty
Yesterday as I took my foot off the brake at a slightly steep stop sign, and the GX rolled back, I heard a grinding like noise, the differential lock light flashed on the dash and I heard a short beep.
I replicated the action to make sure what I noted was correct.
My GX’s background; purchased 04 GX w/64,000k from a auto broker in Dallas last Thanksgiving.
I’m the third owner, previous owner purchased CPO from Sewell in Ft. Worth, all service records intact.
Reviewing Lexus service history, 08/2011 and at 59,600k, Sewell replaced the transfer case actuator. I’ve added less than 2000k. No leakage noted on garage floor.
I searched the forum and found a similar inquiry which the consensus pointed towards a possible transfer case leak.
Perhaps someone with a lot more knowledge could answer a couple of questions and help steer me in the right direction.
If indeed it’s a transfer case issue, would Sewell’s 08/2011 replacement of the transfer case actuator be covered under some sort of warranty? Could the warranty be utilized by a different owner? What happens mechanically if I don’t do anything?
Gotta be honest, I’m not loving the GX.

relax. perfectly normal. it is a feature called "hill start assist control" it prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards down a steep hill when you are trying to move from brake to gas with your foot. kind of jarring the first time it kicks in, but you dont have anything to worry about.
