Default Actuator

Actuator. How bad is the actuator problem? I have a 2005 GX 470 and all 5 of my actuators have now failed. I can live with manullay unlocking the passenger doors but now I can't open my rear door. My dealer replaced the first one at no charge as I have been a loyal customer - oil changes every 5,00 miles and all of the recommended service - but now I need 4 of them at $5-600 apiece! What if the new ones have a shorter lifespan? Who can afford to replace these things every few years? I would be interested to know how many Lexus onwers have had actuartors fail. Is anyone aware of a TSB or other replacement program? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure how different the units are from model to model, but after owning 3 Lexuses combined time of 20 years, not a single one broke. Can't speak for the GX, as it’s been only a few month since I purchased it. BTW service records did not indicate such warranty job for the GX that I own now.

All five door lock actuators broke at once??? What are the chances???

Is it possible that the root of the problem is elsewhere?

I do not think this a a mechanical failure, more sounds to me a electronic fault triggering the locks mechanism no functional. Maybe you could troubleshoot by yourself. The Dealers easy way out is replace, never troubleshoot to find the problem, maybe you could that for a start and save the bucks.

Never heard of such a thing. Sounds to me like there is an electrical gremlin somewhere. I have an 05 with no issues. Have you looked through the bible version of the owners manual. Wonder if it has something to do with the remote? Seems fishy.
