I am looking to buy a 05+ GX470 and require the KDSS option but have not been able to tell if the particular GX has it since it is an automatic no-user involvement needed to function option.

How can I tell if a GX has the KDSS option?

Turn the key to "ON" and look for the idiot light "KDSS" to turn on.


Give dealer VIN and see how it was speced out from the factory.

OR, take a peek under the front or rear and witness the huge swaybars -- when compared to non-KDSS.

I like the KDSS idiot light on the dash option better

If your GX doesn't have the sport package, it probably doesn't have KDSS. That is what the dealer told me when purchasing the truck in 07!!

I believe this is true for 2005+ models only.

KDSS was available in 2004 but there was no sport package.

So few trucks had KDSS, it's not like your just gonna stumble across it.

It was still a standalone option when I bought mine new in 2007, FWIW. Rare, but available.

What are the telltale signs you have the sport package?

sport pkg has a uniquely dark interior, graphite finished roof rack, dark tinted backup lens, chrome exhaust tips, black maple interior trim,black carpeting and floor mats.

PS, the new generation 911s are coming with active roll control as a high $$ option, just as the Cayenne and Panamera have moved to recently. Quite similar to our good 'ol KDSS setup in the GX -- at least in concept.

Anyone know of other mass-ish market cars that had automatically/hydraulically adjustable sways prior to the GX? I know it isn't a sports car -- not even close. Do the high end Range Rovers offer it?
