Do you like the 1st generation exterior or the 2nd generation more?

Yes, I do own a GX470 (wife's ride). Black, ML, Nav, and LEDs a comin'. The IS is my ride.

1G looks cleaner 2G looks more modern.

1G is unique, 2G makes the GX look like other SUVs. Downside to the 1G is that there are a ton of them in the Puget Sound area.

I'm generally disappointed with the styling direction of all companies who are offering S, M, L, XL versions of the same design for their sedans and SUVs. I liked the way the 1G looked unique (and good looking at the same time). The 2G seems to look more like the Highlander, 4Runner, and LX. I also have the same complaint about the LS460 looking like the ES and GS instead of unique like the LS430 did. Do not like.

1G looks like Land Cruiser Prado with 3 more pieces of wood. 2G looks more like it should look like.

The goofy TV ad that they're running right now doesn't help my mental image of the new GX either. They hardlyi show the vehicle, but rather just show manhole covers blowing off, Disney-like road hazards, etc. Just seems silly to me. LOL

Btw it's the same thing if you ask in the 1IS forum if anybody likes 2IS. Nobody is going to say they do.

So combine the polls. I agree. Unfortunately, the GX clientèle apparently is not forum savvy either. How many soccer moms blow through the city worrying about manhole covers blowing off? My wife has no clue what a forum is. She is the average Lexus owner. And she is the driver of the GX!!!!!!!!!

We waited so long for this new GX.

The third row seats, which hardly get used by most, were improved.

The impact on cargo space was definitely a step back wards. The rear barn door is still inexcusable. The front end has lost its luxury flavor for a gaping mouth and bug eyes.

I agree, this forum has mostly 1G owners, who would naturally say they like the 1G better, but most on the 2G forum do not own a GX460, so would be less biased.

Combined Poll. 1G still on top. What this says is that Lexus styling is timeless. Especially for the higher end SUVs. Go 1G!!

Also, why did they go back on the number (470 to 460)? Usually that kinda equates to price? Are they saying that the new one is less expensive?
