I wish I could have put that hitch on mine... Unfortunately, the hidden hitch won't work on the 03s The dealer had a "small" hitch, but I would have had to leave the bumper cover off So... I opted for the visible one
by the way... Sweet ride
That is actually the factory hitch off of a 2003 4-runner. They no longer make that hitch and, like you, I really liked how it "fits" perfectly in the little bumper nitch. So I posted a request on a 4-Runner forum and someone had one they wanted to sell. I got it for $30 shipped!, bought a Lexus plug and there you go. A lot of people switch these out beacuse they are only rated for 5000lbs...so all you have to do is find someone who has upgraded to the bigger (7000lb) hitch and held onto the "little" hitch...they probalbly want to get it out of thier garage.

That's a great find. All I needed the hitch for is to carry my bikes, so the "mini" hitch would have worked great. I may keep an eye out for one and replace the exposed unit down the road.
It sometimes very lughtly rubs the inner fender well when turning full lock and hitting a bump...like when turning hard into a driveway. It only rubs enough to brush the dirt off of the well. I did not even notice it for several months...not an issue if you ask me.
Thanks for sharing. I have been contemplating larger wheels, but then I would have to go with a BBK kit for sure and not sure if I need/want to start serious mods on two vehicles.

I think it is Step Bumper Hitch, can be used for bicycle rack.
