Default Gx470 120 Volt power source

I've had the GX470 for about 2 years now and I just noticed the back where the rear sears are there's an AC outlet. Only noticed this weekend, seeing had friend from out of town in. Usually the rear seats are up for the dog and stuff.

Bahaha interesting thing to notice after 2 years.

One thing has anyone used the outlet before?

I use it when I tailgate. I plug a radio or TV into it.

The AC plug is only two prong..... a little limited as far as plugging in my laptop charger... arent most AC adapters 3 prong plugs???

Also... how long would the AC power last when tailgating for example?

Engine on AC position..... i would figure like 2 hours before worrying about draining the battery.??

I use it when traveling to run a laptop or our cooler. I haven't used it with the GX off. Had it on during the whole trip from TX to NY on Saturday & Sunday and will do the same on the trip back next week.

You need to activate it with the toggle switch in the lower left console by the drivers' left knee.

No, in my experience, most AC adapters are 2 plugs (i.e. of the 35+ around my house, they are all 2 plug).

How long the car battery will last using that plug will depend on the load. I think it's limited to 100Watts max, anyway. But a 4 Watt IPOD charger could run all day+.

I use that A/C Plug to power my PS2 when I use it. The wire runs nicely through the paneling to under the passenger seat. It is also nice for my iPod and other stuff. However, I use a 1-to-3 outlet adapter so I can plug more stuff in.

It is very handy

I believe the limit on the AC power source is only about 100 watts, so it can't power anything too big.

Also, with the way it is recessed larger plugs and adapters don't fit really well. I carry a two prong extension cord in case I want to use it.

Ha Ha, same with my wife. She tired of her sprint phone running low on juice. Keep reminder her that she can plug it in truck. She never remembers. Going to get a cooler for the back for the baby stuff. Anyone have a recommendation on a travel cooler?

Nate,

http://www.igloo-store.com/category....hermoelectrics Igloo makes a few models, but they are quite large and either need to go on the seat or in the back. We have an older version of this Vector travel cooler & warmer: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B000BQOO0U and this fits nicely behind the seats on the floor or right in the middle of the second row on the seats for easy access from the front.

Default 400 Watt Outlet

The Toyota FJ Cruiser is built on a GX 470 platform and sports a 400 Watt 115 Volt outlet.
