New driveline?

Does anyone know if there's truth to this? Could be a little fishy, could also be a phenomenal development.
Thanks.

maybe it might be true. heck, if for some reason i am convinced that this is true, i'm gonna add this issue to the repair list (since the Gx is in the shop) and we'll see. But for now, i'm not really convinced yet and am really pissed with my dealer. If only the next dealer was within a 20 mile radius of town.

Not that I know of
I'll double check, but the Eastern area rep was at the dealership today, and there was no mention of this. He knows that both the GM and I have GX's with the thump issue. I'll double check tomorrow.

Yes it's true
Yes it's true, I had my lexus in for an oil change and tire rotation and asked to have the drive shaft lubed, and the service manager came out and told me that Lexus has put out a new TSB for the thump. He explained that they redesigned the drive shaft and have not had any thump issues on the new design which is used in the 2006 model. Hopefully, this is it.

GX Thump
End of the month, so my wife doesn't even take my calls this week at work.
I'll find out soon enough though. As for my GX, the thump is definitely more subdued, but still there, my TSB called for a re-lubrication of the drive(propeller) shaft.
Jugdish, can you look at your R.O. and get me a TSB number...I can compare it to my files at home and tell you if it is a new one.

I will post on thursday, I am scheduled for thursday morning. The service manager told me that they have been planning this for several months but did not release until now because of a past redesign that failed. They wanted to extensively test this new design. He also said that lexus will not issue a recall because it is not a safety issue, but rather a comfort issue, so if you don't go to Lexus about it, they won' t come to you.

Fixed - No Thump
Well, I had the driveshaft replaced and so far after some testing of hard stops, etc......NO THUMP! Here is the TSB info: TSB DL001-04 Rear Driveshaft Clunk Noise. According to the Tech that worked on my car, Lexus redesigned the driveshaft and coated the splines with Teflon. We'll see if this is the final chapter.

Is there a chance that they gave you the wrong number? I'm curious, because if there is truly a new fix, I'd like to have it done.
Thanks.

Thats the TSB the service manager gave me, but it could be wrong because he was digging for it for a minute, and he was covering for the regular service manager who was on vacation. The Tech who did the work told me that this new fix was just released last week and I was the first recipient in my area.

Is there any chance you could seek clarification from him/them? I would really appreciate it, though I realize you've already provided plenty of information, so I understand if you can't get to it.
Eventually my dealer should hear about it, or so I hope!
Thanks again!

Contacted the service department and was told that the TSB # did not change, but the part # used for that TSB did change and it uses the newly teflon coated splines. Will post when I hear more specifics from them.
