Trunk carpet pad getting wet after rain

Trunk carpet pad getting wet after rain
The pad under the carpet in the trunk gets wet after rainy days. I don’t have the third row seats in, I just use the trunk space.
I’m assuming the water isn’t being properly drained. Maybe this has to do with the sunroof?
What’s the fix for this, and can I do it myself?

Pole Position
That hole on the left doesn't look right. Can you see the outside through it?
There are both front & rear sunroof drain hoses. Items 14 & 15 on this diagram.

The fronts are easy to access from above once you've opened it. Clear out any leaf debris, etc. You can run a weed-trimmer line down the hoses (GENTLY!) to dislodge any crud by wiggling it around.
The rear drains are not accessible from the top. But have a grommet on the bottom that is underneath the vehicle - I'm not sure where they come out - grab a flashlight and spend some time under there.

The other 2 areas to think about:
1) the rear quarter windows outside belt molding. The attachment holes have a gasket on the new replacement part. It is pretty difficult to replace but if you take all the trim off, you can access it. I think this is most likely your leak.
2) Roof rack attachment bolts.
If you search hard enough, there are some videos on these. If I find them again, I'll post here.

And here he looks specifically at the belt seal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OUgfy6N70Y

Getting in that rear quarter will help you see alot. If it is the belt line molding, getting the rear quarter glass loose enough to replace it is a little difficult but essential if this is where the leak is. Getting good at removing trim definitely opens up many things you can work on...pun intended. How does your rear quarter belt seal look from the outside? If you remove the interior rear quarter trim you should be able to see witness marks if water is coming in here.

Ah yes. So I assume you might as well replace both while you're at it, right? If that is indeed where the water is coming through. I think it's likely but who knows for sure...

I think you will know if you take off the rear quarter interior trim, as I am pretty sure you would see witness marks if leaking from rear quarter belt molding. I replaced all my belt moldings when I first got my GX. All were way deteriorated and I wanted to start blocking any water coming into the vehicle. The front door and rear door belt moldings are pretty easy, the rear quarter ones are more difficult, the suspect ones here. I would replace all 6 at the same time. There are cheap ones for like $50 all black. I've seen durability issues with these and went with oem for like $250 if I recall correctly. Hard decision to make to go with oem but so glad I did.
