Default Lexus link system error

Hello,
Just purchased a 03 GX470 and it has a Lexus link system error rendering most of the screen functions useless. I get two different audible notifications. Only 2-3 of the speakers are working and the radio page goes back to the error after a minute or so. If I push random buttons I can get the Nav to come up for a minute, same with the menu but they all go away after a minute or so. I also see a DVD error as well. Any suggestions as to how to correct the link system or DVD without going to the stealership?

Thanx Don

I don't have the Lexus Link, but from what I'm reading, there is a TSB guiding the dealer on how to remove it from your vehicle (since it used the analog cell towers which have been deactivated in the US)
Will it cost money? No idea. Ask them.

Can you post a photo of the screen with the error message?

The GPS DVD will not eject, when I unplug the GPS DVD payer I lose more funtions on the display, could it be that the faulty DVD is causing the link system error due to incomplete data?

This isn't a Lexus Link problem but a navigation system problem. Either the disc has gone bad like the message says, or the DVD reader has broken. The fact that you can't eject the disc points toward it being the unit itself.
There are used units for sale on ebay - no idea if they're any good. I would get the part number off yours to make sure you buy the correct one.

I think that's the same screen issue I had. If I remember correctly, there's a way to force the DVD player to reject the DVD's and that solved the problem.

Good luck!

There may be a hole you can insert the end of a heavy duty paperclip in to force the eject, like when PCs had optical drives.
No idea.

Thanx guys, other than replace the gps dvd player I dont see a way to get that dvd out. For the money it would cost to replace it, I more inclined to replace the entire head unit and get modern.
