08 Problem with Gas Gauge
Normally, when pumping gas, pump clicks off, gas tank's full.
With my car, pump clicks off denoting a full tank but the gauge does not show that's its full 100%. It's always down by 1/4 tank.
This has happened 2x.
Any input? Thanks.

If you're certain the pump at the station is shutting off when it's full, it's probably a bad sender inside the tank.
(I have had problems with the new Costco vapor recovery boots shutting off too soon)
The tank has to be dropped to replace it, so as a courtesy, run it to less than 1/8 tank before leaving it with your mechanic. Since the gauge is inaccurate, you might have to go by mileage, not the reading. The part is around $150.

Thanks, Chip, I'll look into that. If memory serves, I think this happened a couple of years ago and it "fixed" itself. I've been trying to keep the tank full which is filling every other day. I like buying gas at Costco because they sell 10% above their cost which is lower and better quality than my neighborhood convenience store.
UPDATE...
Filled it up yesterday and all was normal. Go figure. Properly at some time, it will need to be addressed but for now everything's good.
Thank you all for input and comments.

Maybe a strong candidate for putting sea foam or some similar product in the gas tank to work on any crud buildup that might be affecting the fuel level sender in the tank?
Maybe, but the pivot point on the sender should be a couple of inches above the bottom of the tank so there'd have to be a ton of crud in there to jam it up.
Or maybe rust - if the fuel had a lot of water in it (but OP would have had misfire codes).
I'm wondering if the float has become saturated, but from photos it looks like a hollow plastic box. So if it had a leak it wouldn't be a partial failure.
