Default 2004 GX470, bad negative cable

Starting to think I bought a cursed vehicle. I have yet to fix anything on it but just keep finding more issues. I have miscellaneous electrical issues, an airbag light that won't clear, TPMS that won't clear even though the tire pressure in all 5 tires is fine, can't get the ECU to go into programming mode for the remotes (even with the locksmith trying through the laptop and manually). So I decide to look at the ECU fuse under the hood, and find the ground from the battery to the fender sheared, and the cable to the block compromised.. Starting to think my gremlins might be tied to this.

That being said, have any of you replaced your ground cable? I can't find a replacement anywhere. If so, can you tell me what you did?

Is that ground cable supposed to be part of the main battery wiring? I'm not finding a seperate ground in the EPC, it almost looks like it's daisy chained into the main harness.

I'm not seeing anything either. The engine compartment harness for pre-1/04 models is still available at $3k but not the post-1/04 models.

I would talk to a stereo installation shop about building replacements. They sometimes upgrade the charging system wiring for high SPL competition vehicles.

Yes, it is a "tee" connection at the negative battery terminal, running from the block, through the battery, and terminating at the fender

X2 on Chip's suggestion to swing by a stereo shop and see what the installers would charge to repair the harness.

Did you ever replace the negative battery cable? My friend has the same issue and we’re wondering how involved it is to replace it!
