Default Navigation version for gen 5 radio

Not knowing what update i have, I decided $15 was no gig deal for a update disk (Ver 16.1 U41 East AND West).

1) is there a way to know what my current version is?

2) can someone point me to directions for the update?

Thanks in advance.

The nature of your question leads me to think you may already know some of this information:

Press the Nav surround "Menu" button then the on screen "Map DVD" button and view Data Ver. xxx
Original Nav Data for your 2008 should have been published in 2007.

Go to https://lexus2.custhelp.com/app/answ...ist?p=190,1287 and open "What GEN is my Nav?"
The latest Data Ver. available for your 2008 will be from 2015 and the disc is $169.

Pop the DVD out from the drive under the passenger front seat and see what version you have currently.

I actually didn't know, but I assumed it was old.

I checked. It is ver 07.1

I think that might be the original?!?!?

Also, I see that many are selling ver 16 (PT219-GEN5E-16) while that PDF shows PT219-GEN5E-15.

I guess I'll reach out to Lexus?

Check ebay, burnt DVD's work exactly the same and cost much less.

I already ordered hoping it would work. It will be here tomorrow. As I said in my first post, if I was wrong, I can afford to lose $15.

My concerns have now expanded little:

* Will version 16.1 work when Lexus site says the most recent version is 15. The eBay seller says that he has sold many and it works no problem.
* Will a copy of a DVD brick my system. I've heard that this is possible. Perhaps I can do a DVD bit for bit comparison on my PC.
