So long story short, I bought a 2006 GX in early September and haven’t driven it. I bought it out of province (I’m in Canada) and the safety check indicated and issue with the exhaust manifold. I don’t know how they detected it because I could not hear a ticking sound at all and when they did the safety the engine was warm.

Anyways fast forward to day, the car is still at the mechanics. They have tried installing 2 manifolds from AP Exhaust I think. Could not get them to fit. Lexus IS quoting 1400$ and Toyota looks like 1100$. I’ve seen a couple of Lexus dealers from Cali and Florida sell OEM manifolds that with shipping and import duties come to about 950$.

Anyone have any luck with exhaust manifolds from any other aftermarket supplier? Obviously AP Exhaust is crap. I see Dorman exhaust+cat for about 800$.

should I just bite the bullet and go OEM? ive just gotten over being pissed off that of the 140 safety check items the safety guy found a leak in the exhaust manifold (he even passed it but came back with white out afterwards )
