Default Front Suspension Question?

Is there any reason why a Tacoma Quick strut or Monroe Roadmatic strut assembly for a 4Runner or FJ cant be used on the GX470's?

huh?
GX470's are dual A-arm w/ coil overs. No struts.

If you mean just the shock part of the coil-over, perhaps maybe. GX's have OEM dynamic damper shocks.

Yep. Dual A-arm design with upper & lower control arms. Not a strut.

A "quickstrut" is a replacement shock with a spring already installed with a new tophat, ready to swap in without having to disassemble the original and move over the spring and related hardware to the new strut. The front suspension does use a strut, with a shock in the rear.

The problem with quickstruts is they use cheap shocks, and the springrate is not guaranteed to be a match for stock (especially if the application is for a Tacoma), and ride/handling may be affected. You would ALWAYS want to replace in pairs for this reason. As far as physically fitting, yes it should fit, but you will lose the electric adjustable function of the stock suspension obviously.

GX has no struts.

In strut suspension the upper a-arm is basically removed, and the bottom end of the strut holds the wheel in alignment.

Here's a better explanation

Saw your other reply, you're right, that makes sense. Not a strut.
