Default Cralicking Dash Speaker

I hope one of you have seen this issue, on my 2006 GX470, the front center dash speaker will start cralicking and after about 10 seconds, all normal sound from all other speakers will stop like the amp turns off. But the head unit looks to be working fine. Any ideas?

sounds like your speaker is dry rotted and voice coil moves and noise created by the tears in the speaker cone

yes, assumed that too, but I removed the speaker in question and it looks and feels fine. With the speaker out of the dash, I powered on the sound system and it played perfectly for about 10 seconds, then the amp turns off.

That doesn't sound like a speaker problem if all the other speakers quit. I think your amp is going out.
It's located under the driver's seat, so you might want to feel if it's getting hot.

If you decide to get it repaired, there's a firm on eBay that people have used and they charge about $400-$500. Much cheaper than a dealer replacement!

I reckon you follow the following steps to rule out out the possibility. As.many GX 2004 had this similar cases reported.
Self examination of GX
When do you exactly have the rattle sound or when does the problem exactly occur. ( Rough Roads, Bumps, while rotating the volume to max or min)
1. Remove the door trim panel driver side and co driver side and do a check of inner trims.
2. Confirm if the noise occurs AM/ FM or CD mode.
3. Attached is the pic
4. Repair the door panel as needed, as this is the most cases the fault issue is. If noise still occurs next step
5. Do a thorough inspection of the door panel inner area Confirm the rattle noise is within the area where the vibration was reoccuring. By doing a test driver with someone observing this. Required Sharp ears for observation with less traffic area. If you are able to observe and zeroed on the probable cause then next
6. Reinstall the door trim and confirm the area is where the vibration is occurring and cleaned of any dust by using isopropyl alcohol solution.
7. Use NVH kit p/n ( 08231-0810) on parts that are vibrating. Normally the noise stop after this process but if still rattle noise continues
8. The do a inspection of the speaker itself. If u find the speaker has got any damages around the edge of the cone, if so observed then speaker needs replacement.
9. Unbolt the speaker bolts. Replace the speaker as per yr budget.
Cheers
Mann

tested the speaker out of the dashboard and found the amp was bad. When I powered on the system, the speaker on question would slowly move to the outward most position, then start to make noise. I did this test several times with the same results. So I ordered a rebuild amp out of factoryradios out of Rancho california.
