I may be crazy, but I loaded 32 pieces of sod in my 2008 GX; air springs leveled the vehicle. My rear tires ballooned a little. I could notice the weight while driving; but it really didn’t seem too scary. Took it slow my way home. Sod source about 5 miles away. Made a similar trip about a month ago with no trouble developing afterward. This load finished the job. First SUV I’ve owned; bought it in 2015 with 186k. Now at 240k running strong. Love this vehicle !
Based on googled weight, I estimate I was hauling over 1000 lbs. home.
It was interesting to see that once I unloaded the sod, my rear wheel opening was 10" above my tire tread. As soon as I started the engine, it lowered approximately 4 inches.
We spent yesterday ripping out ceramic tile and taking it to the dump. (Giant piece of cardboard to protect the floor) Gross weight on the dump scales was 6140#. 2007 GX is supposed to weigh 4871, so accounting for fuel and driver, I was hauling about 1/2 ton. Rode as normal as usual, but I did turn corners a bit slowly so the tile wouldn't slide around. My GX replaces a 98 T100, which I hauled a full ton of bricks to the dump in. The GX is a great work truck, capable off-roader even stock, and a comfortable cruiser. What more could you ask for? Maybe gas mileage, LOL.
