Default Coolant Leak

I just noticed I have a leak starting, crawled under the car, at first glance thought it might be the transmission fluid. Turns out it is a little higher up and looks like coolant. Not sure where it is leaking, its to far away from the radiator, I had the water pump timing belt changed 3 years ago. What could be causing the leak that far back? First picture - transmission, 2nd and 3rd picture looking straight up from where the visible coolant is leaking down from. Whats the best way to assess where the leak is coming from?

Nothing to it but keep following the trail up until you find it.

I can't think of what would be back there, there would be the connections into the firewall for the HVAC heat exchanger, external head gasket leak (I can't see it being that, but options are sparse).

Does the HVAC still blow heat? On both sides?

Heater core connection is a possibility. But they usually leak into the cabin.
