Default Stoneguard

Hey folks:

Quick question for you guys that have used the 3M product. I've been calling around where I live, and the local shops are telling me they do not prefer Stoneguard because it looks yellowish when it is applied. Might have to deal with the adhesive they use when it cures. Is this true? Also, what other films do you guys know of, and what is a reasonable price to have the entire front done?

Thanks in advance..

I checked with Stonguard last week and saw one of their reference car. It looks pretty good but I got quotes for around $1k for full kit for my GX. Your car color matters as to how much visible the covering/borders would be. Black, white are most difficult ones. One good thing about Stonguard is that they wrap around the edges of hood.
I checked with xpel as well. I got quotes for $650 for the same coverage by one of the xpel local dealers. My understanding is that it is the same product as Stonguard. So it would be worth shopping around.

I used the xpel, didn't have a stoneguard dealer in my area. The only difference is that the stoneguard wraps around the edges and the xpel doesn't. That is why you have a price and labor cost difference. Remember this product is install like tint therefore it is more difficult to install around the edges. Absolutely no problem with color distortion. I would rather have some protection than no protection and the xpel only leaves the extreme edges exposed. See websites below.

My TL Type-S has dealer installed 3M Scotchcal Clear Bra. I have this car for two years and it is still clear and not yellowish.
