I went out of town for the week.. it was a business trip to Dallas. I decided to take the GX470 I purchased last month to see how well it did road trips... it did great other than one problem. So I’ll explain....
as I reached my destination Monday morning, as soon as I pulled into the parking space and place the shifter in park, the rear drivers side window rolled down on its own! I couldn’t control it from either switch. Then I could here the left rear still trying to roll down and “clicking”, also the rear left was trying to roll up and “clicking”(even though it was up).
I tried several things but to make a long story short I was able to get the window up by holding up on the rear switch as I cycled the key on and off. I couldn’t even lock out the rear windows to make this stop. I also noticed the door lock button didn’t work on the drivers side.
I took the switch out and pulled it apart with the screw driver from the kit on the back door. Lol
i was hoping to just clean off some dust or old spilled soda or something... but I found the capacitors were leaking in the switch and had left the residue all over the circuit board. I even cleaned all of that off and put it back together to find I still had eractic back windows and no control from the drivers switch(other than the drivers window).
Since I had gone out of town I just unplugged both rear window switches and popped them back in.
This left me with the ability to control the drivers window from the drivers switch and the pass window plus door locks from the passenger switch.
Looking online I realized that Lexus was literally insane for the price they wanted for a gray master switch. Lol
So I looked on amazon and found the switch pictured. So I ordered it and had it shipped to my hotel(next day).
Ounce it arrived, I simply installed it in the carrier and plugged it and both rear switches in.
It worked perfectly!! It even fixed the issue I had with the drivers auto up/down feature loosing its memory every time I cycled the key. All fixed up for $38.. and 5 min of my time.
One thing to note ... look at the pins where the connector plugs in. Make sure they are straight and you slowly slide the connector in... if you feel resistance, slide the connector back out and make sure the pins are still straight.. then repeat until it clicks in easily. This way you don’t damage your new switch or have it not work correctly because a pin broke off.
