Hi,
Nice looking truck.
Could you tell me what size tire you're using with those wheels? I just bought a set for my GX and wonder if the 265/70/17 tire will fit appropriately.
Thanks.

4Runner wheels will fit and actually look better due to slightly taller sidewall 265/70/17. So no issues there.

You can fit 275/70/17 on GX470 stock height without any issues. Anything larger will have to be modded. (Trim bumper, remove running board etc.)

Some people on IH8MUD said 285 can fit with little mod. Some said only rubs on full turn. I personally would go with 275 to be safe.

Of course, these also depends on the car's age and how the suspension is.

Thank you. In the photo of your truck are those tires 265 or 275? I don't know tires but if I understand you correctly a 275 is just a little taller and wont create any rubbing issues. I was originally concerned about the offset but that apparently wont be a problem with the wheel rubbing the caliper. Thanks again.

Hey Jeff, I have 275/70r17s on my stock height GX. They are 32.2” by 11” vs 30.5” by 10.4” factory spec tires. I mounted them on 4Runner TRD Pro wheels that have a +4 offset vs the +25 offset of factory GX wheels, so they sit about an inch further out from the frame than factory wheels would. I did have to move the front wheel well liner forward ~2” to accommodate the 275. If I had not done that, the tires would have rubbed on the plastic liner.

edit: I also removed my running boards and installed sliders. Trimming the running boards would probably be required to clear the 275s.

Here’s a bad picture of the fender liner mod. You can’t really tell from this angle, but there’s only about .5” of clearance after I moved it forward almost 2”. Maybe if the whee offset was closer to factory, the tires wouldn’t be that close to the liner. I’m not sure.

Seems like the 275 may, potentially, require some mods. My GX is a 07. 275 may clear, may not. I like it just the way it is :-) No plans to off road. However, with all the rain we're getting here (MD) the off-road may be coming to me. Your info was very helpful. Thank you.

Haha. If you don’t need bigger tires and don’t plan to go off road, I would stick with 265/65s that come factory or maybe up one size to 265/70 for looks. 275s are significantly bigger than stock and in my experience, will not fit without some minor trimming. In 275/70r17, it’s tough to find an AT/MT tire that isn’t load range E, so mine are very heavy and the ride has changed considerably as a result.
