Was rotating the tires on the GX today and I noticed something. The lugs on the rear axle are MUCH longer than the lugs on the front. The rear lugs protrude about 1/2" from the wheel surface, while the front lugs protrude basically not at all. This isn't a huge deal I guess since the nuts have threads that are somewhat recessed, but there is definitely a lot more thread engagement on the rear than in the front.

Has anyone else noticed this, or has the previous owner replaced the front rotors with crapola?

 

All 24 look the same to me, can't imagine them being different based on lug nuts and torque.

 

I just found this in another forum, so maybe it's normal:
For some reason, Toyota chose to put very short lug nuts on the front of the '05+ Tacoma. I guess Toyota didn't plan on their customers putting aftermarket wheels on their trucks.....short sighted in my opinion. This creates some what of a hazard when putting thick based aluminum wheels on these vehicles, such as the MotoMetal wheels I currently have. According to Dorman's website information, the rear wheel studs for the Tacoma are longer than the front wheel studs.
