I've done this a few times.
Same price, actually Lexus of Austin charges $12.95 per key not $12.50 as I posted earlier and a local locksmith charges $40.00.

Key arrived 3 days after purchase and worked perfectly. I was a little hesitant about the cut from a picture, but no issues at all!

1010keys on ebay is legit. Those guys have been replacing Lexus keys for 10 + years it seems. You just pick your key, take a good picture of it based on their instructions they ship it to you with the instructions to program it yourself as long as you have at least one key already. Don't go to the stealership!

Just bought the 1010key. Would the remote above work for 05? Thanks.

Yes. He will send you programming instructions, its pretty nutty how you can program the keys at home. Go watch a youtube video and you will get the idea. It's like doing the hokey pokey

Sorry, I didn't clarify earlier. I bought key only with no remote, not complete set so I need to buy remote/transponder separately.

I don't know about the serial number, but I used Techstream to program mine and program the door lock and unlock function without a hitch. I had to delete all the keys though because no vacancies were left. I then reprogrammed them all.

Lexus of Edmonton asks $150 for an empty shell. They offer 10 percent off the price to goad you into a quick purchase and will include the key cut.

Full key with transmitter they ask $354 plus $70 for reprogram.

[QUOTE=Key codes are stamped on the passenger side cylinder lock [/QUOTE]

Do you have to remove the lock from the door to see the key code?

Guy's listen up to what we are saying you can get everything you need from 1010keys on Ebay. He has been cutting and shipping Lexus Keys for like 10 years now with the programming instructions. I have used him on all of my Lexus vehicles.

Wife broke the plastic clamshell on the key, so ordered a replacement from 1010keys on ebay. Hoping it's good quality.

I picked up a '07 GX a few months ago and needed a new key since the second key it came with had broken plastic. Used 1010keys on eBay and had it in about 3 days. He cut from a picture and it works perfectly. I'd use him again in a heartbeat.

I just bought a 2003 GX470. If this guy is still around , are you saying you will not have to take it the dealership to be programmed ? Thanks.
