Smile Range indicator won't reset after fill-up

I have a 2007 GX470. My range indicator was showing 34 miles left. I filled up the tank and at first my fuel guage still showed E and range was showing 34 miles. I shut off the car and the fuel guage started showing a full tank but my range still showed 34 miles. As I drove, the range decreased to 0 and it is still showing 0 for the range. How can I reset this so that it will show the correct range? I asked the dealer if there is a reset for it and they said you can bring it in and we can diagnose it for $100.

Yes, try resetting the computer by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes. When you reconnect, try and do so with a minimum of sparks.

You might also look into replacing the gas cap. Several members have had this be a source of check-engine codes, and they seem to go bad after a while.
