Strange Noise From Behind Dash

I had a noise best described as a mechanical watch ticking behind the dash somewhere. This was due to a cig lighter usb adapter plugged in to the 12v-120w power outlet that was charging my phone. When I replaced the usb adapter with a different one, the ticking noise went away.
I don't know if you have the same issue, but who knows.
