Default Lowering a 06, possible?

Hello all,
I have a 06 Silver GX, all stock suspension wise. Before you start bashing about the lowering thing, I would love to lift it but in stock form, I have 1" of clearance from the garage to the roof racks so going up is not possible. I would if I could but I can't so I won't. My cars don't get left outside at night!

I have 118K on it now and the front shock leaked and were replaced several years ago while under warranty and now the left rear is showing signs of seepage so I am having to make a decision if I replace with stock, pull the adjustable shocks and install bilstiens keeping the rear airbags or ditching it all and going aftermarket with coils. I would like to upgrade the wheels and tires, maybe 20" or 22" and lower it to fix the gaps.
SO the first question , is it possible, is sorta answered from my experience, anything is possible if you throw enough money at it but at this time, I don't have that kind of money.
Second, has someone done it for a daily driver and not a show queen?
Third, if it's been done, can you point me in that direction?
Thank you in advance.

If it fits in your garage, keep it stock IMO. The greenhouse on these things is so tall that this vehicle is never going to look right low, and that's just not what it's for either, again IMO.

well I heard FJ springs lift the rear up a little, but I also hear that stock 4runner rear springs would leave you a little lower than stock, like .5" but thats from online so dunno how trustworthy that is. if you swap out to rear 4runner ones you might even level it out with the stock front you have now, just a thought if you were intent on switching to coils without getting the lift the 4runner coils might fit the bill nicely and give you a little more clearance.

I would recommend lifting it though and parking outside if that is at all possible =)

I've got the stock suspension, and saw that the bump stops get used occasionally (a clean-er spot on the frame where they hit). I would look at how much travel it has before going for the lowering option -- I really suspect there isn't much there to take away.
