Default 2004 tpms

Are all 2004s equipped with TPMS? The manual that came with my car doesn't have a tire section with TPMS on it nor do I have the a/b switch with the TPMS logo under my steering column.

The early 2004 production did not have TPMS - like the 1st month or two - and then I t became standard equipment for the rest of the 2004 model year and beyond. I had an early 2004 that did not have TPMS. Now I have a 2004 that was built a little later and it has the TPMS. Another feature added to the later production was the back up camera (on navigation models only). Sounds like you have one of the earlier models. I'm not a big fan of TPMS so I envy you!

I agree, I wish my 04 with Nav had rear camera. I always wondered if just adding a camera in the rear if there was somewhere to hook into. I'm assuming not much changed to the Nav unit for it to accept a camera

Thanks all, I guess the easiest way would be to see if I have rubber or metal valve stems. I do indeed have a early-04 with no tpms.

Does anyone know if TPMS from 04 4runner will work with 04 GX?
Trying to source a less costly alternative to the Lexus.

I believe it would be the same. I wish I knew. I just purchased mint used OEM GX wheels from a 07 that had TPMS and my 04 doesn't have TPMS so I had the tire shop keep them. Not sure they worked though, I believe the batteries are only rated about 6 years
