Default Experiences with longer crossbars?

Hey guys. Question for the class. Has anyone added longer crossbars to an existing 470 roof rack? Our new paddleboard carrier is great but it takes up a ton of space, so much so that I can either take that or the cargo box but not both together. I know that Yakima makes a bunch of different kinds of “feet” that can accommodate a 60” or 72” loadbar. Just curious to see if anyone has done this before.

looked into it, but for my needs I went a different route. what you want is the clamp on crossbars that work with the factory sidebars. like this:

the other thing you should do is remove the factory cross bars. I think it looks so awful when people leave them on and have four cross bars.

+1, I use the Thule feet & bars in the above link. In my case, I was damaging the roof trying to install my thule roof box on the stock crossbars because of the limited clearance between the bars & the roof. Much easier w/the Thule feet & crossbars.

Thanks, guys. Much appreciated. Any chance that either of you could post up some pics? I'm just curious to see what it looks like (near and far).
