Had them put on last week,I agree nice a quiet and look great. Will see how they do in the snow but so far very pleased. $894 OTD at Sams with the $70 back from Michelin.

I'm running them too (on 18" GX460 rims, fwiw). Only downside so far is the tires are really heavy. IIRC they're nearly 10lbs heavier than say a comparable Michelin cross terrain. For those who care about unsprung weight, that's a significant amount. But, otherwise they've been flawless.

Did the heavier weight affect your gas mileage?

LOVE THIS FORUM!!!!

I spoke directly to Michelin Corp.....and.......

Cross Terrain's ARE LONGER MANUFACTURED

For GX 470 they recommend ....Latitude Touring...

In parts of the county with high prolong heat spells any tire is going to be suspect to failure or as Michelin Lady said....Tire Chunking......( Michelin Man was taking a lunch break ).

My original factory Cross Terrains lasted 65,000!!!
My current Cross Terrains at 97,000 still 8/32 across the fronts and 9/32 in the rear.

The only reason I know this, is that the GX was on the rack getting brand new inner and outer CV Boots....both Left and Right side.........

A slight decrease in MPG -- ~1mpg.

I noticed it more in braking & accel responsiveness, and a slightly harsher ride. But boy do the grip & look great.

Anyone other than RCsGX running an A/T tire? I'm thinking something like the Bridgestone Dueler Revo could be decent.

I am running Goodyear wrangler territory's. They are 265/75/17 on stock rims. They are very aggressive, look great but are a little noisy.

I know the majority of people here do on road driving so a quiet tire is preferred but if your looking for a good all around tire that looks beefy look at the hancook dynapro ATM rf10 they are fantastic all around I have them on my 96 land cruiser and my 03 v8 4runner limited and they are awesome in both aplications both on the road and in snow!

I dont mean to thread jack your post but I am also doing research for a set of tires and currently on the top of my list are:

Kumho Road Venture SAT KL61

They are all terrain tires that have earned a rating equal to dedicated snow tires and most reviews talk about how quite and comfortable they ride on the road. Not only that but they are very affordable...

Anyone have experience with them?

I have on my 04 Geolanders by Yokohama. - Great tire, super quiet, grabs anything it can roll on to. For the money you cant go wrong. I've gotten 60k out of these tires on my 06 GX that I sold.

The 08 has Dunlop GranTrek and im not a big fan of them. They use a softer rubber composite which grabs the road a little too much, therefore its harder for the steering wheel to be turned, and the MPGs on the 08 are less than what my 04 gets. Also with only 10k on them I can see them wearing at a higher rate than my Geolanders. The dealer put these on when they CPO'd it, and I personally cant wait for them to need replacing so I can get some good rubber on this truck.

My 99 Land Cruiser however had Michelins on it for a long time, they lasted me about 50k before I had to replace them. Usually they rotted out faster than they wore down. Using it as a surf car and leaving it on the sand at the beach hours at a time caused them to fall apart (I guess). However they were very quiet for the first 30k and quickly began to be noisy, therefore I just recently replaced them with Yokohama Geolanders, and damn its quiet. My LC is a surf/road trip car that lives down in Cabo. These Geolanders have seen it all, from the 1,200 mile roadtrip to cabo, and the endless drives on Mexican surface and highway streets. (which aren't as clean or well kept as US streets). They get constantly air down to 22psi when they go through sand and they frequently encounter debris on the road and have no problem tackling it. Once we are back on the main roads I air them up to 42psi and off we go. Believe it or not after about 7k on these tires and all the abuse I have thrown at them they are perfectly wearing as they should, have never rotted, and dont mind the constant air up and air down.

Just my .02 ... thats all. continue on gents.

I just bought a 2007 GX470 from Kuni Lexus in Colorado Springs. I live in a small mountain town about 7 hours from there, but to get the best selection on any vehicle, I have always had to go to the Front Range. My GX is in absolutely perfect condition, inside and out. In addition to several other relatively high dollar items that Kuni Lexus replaced or repaired BEFORE the sale, they also put on a brand new set of tires. What they chose were Cooper Discoverer HT/P's. I did quite a bit of research on them afterwards and found them to be a VERY good tire (65k tread wear guaranty) for a VERY good price. They were inflated to 43lbs. which I changed to 45lbs. for a couple of reasons. One, to improve, however slightly, the mpg's, and two, to increase the sidewall stiffness. I find that on the many mountain roads that I routinely drive on that a stiffer sidewall really helps on cornering much more precisely. Also when off-roading (which I do a LOT of, mostly in Moab, UT), I generally like the tires to be a stiff as possible. Of course there are situation where I deflate the pressure quite a bit when off-roading, but that depends on where I am going. I always have a DC air compressor on board for that purpose. Anyway, that's my two cents on what's working for me tire-wise. Yes, there are more expensive brands out there, and more choices perhaps better suited to the off-roading I do, but I am VERY satisfied with these Coopers. I guess the test will be to see how long the tread really wears for. Btw, this is the first Lexus I have purchased after owning many, many BMW's and Mercedes. It is by FAR the most luxurious, and capable, truck I have ever owned. I do not think I will ever buy another brand! I love my GX!

What you guys are doing with tire pressure is fascinating to me. I typically keep to the door-jamb pressure. Therefore, I'm running 32psi w/my Michelin AT/2s.

Why are you guys airing them up so much? Among other things, isn't it ruining the ride?

I've heard something about LT tires needing different pressures than standard tires. Is this influencing your pressures? Thanks, I've spent most of my auto experience tinkering with sports cars. Curious about how people think about SUV/Truck tire pressures.
