P0174 Fix?
Purchased my own scanner to do my own test on my vehicles,and I'm getting DTC P0174. Bank 2 too lean. I've read quite a bit of threads about possible problems. I replaced the gas cap already. Anyone had this problem and resolved it themselves?

What your symptom is also called as the Defective Air / Fuel Ratio which is "LEAN" Whereby the overall Fuel Compensaton gets trimmed from the OEM values. This variaton triggers a increase in the fuel volume& the air ratio becomes lean. This triggers a MIL light on your cluster due to this logic created by the ECM.
The Following areas is what you need to look at.
1. Injectors Blocked ( Use a good Fuel Injector Cleaner)
2. Air Induction System ( that is MAF requires Cleaning) Search on this forum some members have already posted on How to do it on GX.
3. Check for any Gas leakage in the Exhaust System ( Raise up you truck on jacks and run thru the entire exhaust system closely with a powerful light torch and check for joints wherein there are burnouts of exhaust hot air. This could be seen by addtional color discoloration on the pipes. Remedy: You could use PERMATEX® 1000° PLUS Exhaust Repair Kit. They are the best industry wide.Use them on all joints & weld patches
4. You need to check your Oxygen Sensors as one of these are getting Overheated. Ideally these should be replaced than doing any kind of inspection. There is no industry inspection other than checking the Amperage which is 11-16
5. The PCV Valve( called as OEM Ventilation Valve # 12204-50030 cost 8.65$- at Sewell) and hose. ( First remove the PCV valve and check for any oil contamination and do a air blow out on the reverse end to check if the ball within moves to block the flow and the other side easy flow. Remove the hose and check for any hardness and flexness. This should Flex( thumbrule) if not replace it.
6. Check your Engine Coolant Temprature Sensor ( You should have a Infrared Thermometer to check this).
