Default Aftermarket FRAM HVAC filter and fogging...

Folks, I just installed FRAM Fresh Breath charcoal HVAC filter in my GX470 and interestingly enough the car fogs... Bummer. When I bought this filter to try, I wrote to FRAM and their engineer has responded saying they measure airflow restriction and apparently they are better than OEM. I did not believe it as FRAM was dense in comparison to the charcoal OEM filter **139-32010. I swapped the filters and guess what... no fogging. Anybody had any luck with FRAM charcoal filters. I can afford the OEM one, but was wondering if there are other aftermarket cabin filters available that do not restric airflow.

That is a weird one. Uually only fogs using recirculate with the heat. Can't imagine how the HVAC filter could do that.

I bought an aftermarket filter, it looks to me like it's just a copy of a standard house HVAC filter (no charcoal). I wish I bought the charcoal one, now. Anyway, I do not get fogging with my filter replacement. I have the brand / model # written down at home (not with me, sorry).

I installed brand new charcoal OEM filter and no fogging. Put back FRAM in again and... fogs. It solves it for me. When compared OEM filter is almost transparent while FRAM is quite dense. I am sure that FRAM filter filters better but... hate my condenser to freeze because of that. Good test I guess. FRAM goes back to Walmart where it belongs

Thanks for the followup. I'll look for the OEM charcoal filter for my next change.
