Default Considering an 07

My father in law loaned his 07 GX for us to drive while we are waiting for our new car to arrive. After a few weeks with it I really like it and may make him an offer since he was planning on trading it in soon. It's an 07 Black with Mark Lev/Nav and 46K miles. I was thinking $30,000 for it? His Nada value for trade in is 30K. Sound like a fair price? He's the original owner and all highway miles.

Yep, that's a good deal for both parties--a few thousand less than you'd pay a dealer or a private seller who isn't reasonable (most aren't) and a few thousand more than he'll get on trade.

I've been looking for a reasonable deal on an '05 or '07 for months, and would happily take that deal in your shoes since you know the previous owner and don't have to worry about accidents, latent defects, etc. Plus depending on in-service date you could extend the warranty on your own through the guys listed in these forums.

Thanks Gordie, exactly what I wanted to hear. After having the GX in our garage it has grown on me and now don't want to see her go!

Let me put it this way.... I bought my wife a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi. I bought myself a 2005 Lexus GX470 (only 17K miles when purchased last year)

My car makes her's seem like a piece of crap. Funny a six year old car is SOOOO much more refined than a brand new GC.

So, I can see why you don't want to see it go. Get it!!! Twist his arm!!
