Default Loud Engine when a/c on

Whole story, my wife (seperated) let the 03 GX 470 (i pay for) sit unstarted in the driveway for 4 months sue to MVA fines. Obviously I need a new battery but I did get it jump started with a jump box and hot shot from My Escalade. Here's the thing when the a/c is on the engine is very loud (has 100k miles) and a/c does not get cold.

Any suggestions as to what I need to replace?

two places to start looking are the compressor then the refrigerant. If compressor works then likely the system needs recharged. BUT before recharging, you need to find out why it needs recharged. Find the leak either in a line (possible), evaporator, condenser (likely), compressor, or o-rings at any connection point. Leaks are found using special fluorescent dyes added to the system and corresponding lamp. Might also be a blend door issue (not that likely) but just in case, check the heat output too while there...

FWIW, w/ high ambient temps (90F +), I've found the GX a/c system is weak when the vehicle is stationery. So, you may want to take it for a drive to truly test. Plus a drive will do all the moving parts (drive-train, suspension, etc.) some good.

Good luck
