Nav doesn't work in the cold
My NAV screen doesn't function when the temp drops below about 32-F. 2005 model - started last winter. I get various error messages (no DVD, DVD damaged or dirty, Cannot read data, etc). Not only no map but also no ability to enter destinations, etc.
I've taken it to three different dealers and no one seems able (or willing) to do anything. One said that they are aware this happens but has no fix. I've cleaned the disk - no help. All other aspects of the screen work fine (i.e. display, audio, climate and even DVD) from the get go.
About half the time when the car warms up sufficiently it "clicks" on.
Anyone have any ideas - other than replacing all the hardware or buying the GX460!
Thanks

You could try to put some sort of insulation around the nav drive. I believe it's located under the passenger seat. I'd cut some pieces of 1" or 1 1/4" blue foam board and use adhesive backed velcro to attach them to the sides of the player, that way if it doesn't work you can pull them off. Kind of a low rent solution but it might work.
Normally the harness which connects the ECU and the NAV unit behind tends to break in- meaning, signals continuity weaken, thereby not firing up, ( these are rare case of the production line for these harness plastic which tends to weaken) All you go do is get the harness replaced, Any troubleshooting on this area is sensitive, and will not work, I has similar probs on the LS, Had the harness replaced under warranty, Thats it, so far knock on wood.
