Default 2005 GX470 key programming instruction

Hello,

I just bought a key from Sewell Lexus and got the key programming instruction from them and the internet but it does not seem to work. Is anyone with GX470 got their key programmed successful?

Thanks,

Did you just replace the key shell or key shell with the Transponder chip from the dealer . If it is the latter. ...you have to go back to the dealer to do the re-program. If it is the key shell and old chip in the new shell... no re-progamming is needed. Maybe u wanna just check out the battery, you want to replace the same. The type is CR1616 ( brand can be any, I chose Panasonic) You get these from any watch repair shops.

I only have one master key and have to buy a new master key from Sewell Lexus in Dallas precut. I didn't know that I can not program the key myself until after I bought the key. Lucky for me that the Lexus of Austin dealer only charged me $19.95 to program the new key. I did called Sterling McCall Lexus in Houston and they are charging $125 for it.

Thanks
