This is all I have. Can't find the dealer that did it or Carfax but I bought it with 94K and this says done at 78k. sounds about right so I am going to assume it was done. This August will just hit 6 years and I only have 103K so I think I will give it another year and 10k and have it done. Only issue I have is not having a good / knowlegable mechanic that I can find. Thanks for the replies though. Much appreciated.
Here is a pic of the timing belt sticker I got with my first timing belt change at the dealer and I wrote in the new values when I had the timing belt done at an independent shop. Here is a pic of the timing belt changed which the shop took a pic. I guess my memory of the miles when I had my belts changed was a little off. Getting old.....
140k mile gx original timing belt pass or consider?
I'm looking at a gx with 140k miles with the original timing belt and water pump. It's obviously long overdue to get those replaced. I'm just wondering I should pass on this or consider it as long as those maintenance items get addressed asap.
If it’s in good shape otherwise…just buy it and perform the maintenance. Just goes to show Toyotas schedule is conservative…having waited didn’t damage anything.
I am considering timing belt/water pump replacement as preventative maintenance. (77K, 2007 Gx470, sits more than I drive). I read through posts but want to make sure when I get quotes that I ask for the right parts replacement. I just put a spepentine belt on (no tensioner) at aftermarket shop. can someone assist me with the correct list of what I need to ask to be done? I am too old to do the work myself and even at Lexus they seem to not do what they should do unless you specifically ask and the appointment backlog her is 3 months. any help is greatly appreciated. I don't now if I will get it done at Lexus, my other choice locally is CarCare
if you can find a Toyota dealer to do the service, they are usually a little cheaper... i did mine a few years back and i think it was like $900 including waterpump, t-stat and accessory belt. the idler puller was good at the time...

Not sure where guys are located. I just purchased a 2003 GX470 with 138k, although carfax says it was changed at 80k. 10 years ago, I decided to change it again. I got 3 quotes belt and pump kit (1 from Lexus dealer), all were $1,600. I'm in Central NC.
It’s time for the timing belt on my 2008 Gx470. It’s at 160k. We bought it 4 years ago with 120k on it from a Lexus dealer who assured us the belt had been replaced ( sometime in the past ..yeah very vague..)
I want to have everything that should be done for this job but I read lots of differing opinions as to what should be replaced whilst doing the belt.
I see “timing belt kits” but some have thermostats and others don’t, some have cam and crankshaft seals and others don’t, somewhere I read that crankshaft pulley bolt is not reusable…
I intend to purchase all the parts required myself to ensure I have quality OEM parts where needed and give them to my mechanic to install.
I am just concerned that there might be something that should be replaced that I don’t know or forget and he just reuses and it comes back to bite me in the bum…
I would be very grateful for any advice……
