If I understand correctly, the software for the GX navigation can be updated with a more recent version. How difficult is it to replace and where best to purchase it? I recently saw a box under the passenger seat that I believe is the box containing the software. I would imagine it is considerably cheaper to do it myself vs. the dealer. Thanks.

 

When you purchase the new dvd map it automically updates it for you. Take the old dvd out put the new one in and that's it. You just have to make sure the dvd you buy is compatible with the version you have.

 

Thanks for the prompt repy. My GX is an 07 and I noticed on ebay there were several versions to choose from so I guess need to find out what version I have and which one is the most recent update.

 

I have an '03 GX, and I've never updated or upgraded the GPS. That gen of software is more/less the cave-painting equivalent of GPS. Does the interface change at all with the new .09 rev or is it just an updating of roads, points of interest etc?

 

I believe it just changes the maps on the DVD but in order to read the newer disc it makes some type of change because you can't revert back to the old disc.

I updated my '03 GX to version 7.1 and it works well.
