Default Backup light

Can anyone tell me how to gain access to change the backup light bulb for 2003 GX 470? Thank you very much.

You have to lift your handle and remove the two prongs that hold the handle. (No Screws) Once that is removed, slip a screwdriver to release the tension. (It is like an expandable prong) The only screw is located under the cover for the top strap of the Lexus first aid kit is. Once that is removed, carefully find a place to pull the panel and you should start hearing snap after snap as you pull it away from the door. Tricky part is near the rear window. It snaps towards the window wiper

Default Thank you OGY!

OGY,

Thank you so very much for your help. I will attempt to do that. My son also has bought me a backup camera and the instruction is to attached the camera to the backup light and a small display mounted on the dash that somehow attachs to the fuse box. Do you have any suggestion on how to do that? I already have a navigation system in my car. Can that hook up some way to the navigation system screen so that I don't have to use the dash mounted screen. Thank you again and deeply appreciated all of your help

While you have the rear apart, you can see where you can route your wiring for the camera. It is a bit tight but it can be done. The fuse box is located on the driver side, near the hood latch release area. It will make sense when you look there. It is a small door that once removed, you will see the fuses. I assume that it has 3 wires. One for the constant, a ground, and acc. It all comes down to how clean you want to make it look. Due to the limited locations to mount a small screen, you may need to lengthen the wires to make it to the fuse box. Dont connect the constant to any of the signals or lights. I would use the cig lighter, acc I would complete it to the reverse lights so they will go on when you put it in R. I routed my wires using only the black rubber moulding to my windshield so if the side aribags deploy, it will not interfere. There is a way to incorporate it the Nav screen but I dont think it can merit the cost and effort involved. Good luck

Default Ogy, thank you again

Hi Ogy,

Your instruction was great! I was able to pull off all the snaps on the back gate panel except the top part where the window wiper motor is. Your are right it appears to be tricky. I was not able to remove that part. Can you explain in more detail what is meant by snap toward the window wiper? I am actually a dentist trying to be a body shop installer and not good at it at all. My son got me one of these backup camera kit as Christmas gift for my wife so that she won't back into things. I have been delaying installing it since I was not sure how. She has been after me and now I have not choice but trying to install it. It is a good challenge and with your help maybe I can do it! If it is not too much trouble can you explain that tricky part again. I just don't want to break off something inside the panel by forcing things. My email address is wchin888@verizon.net and like very much to be your friend. Thank you again.
