Default black chrome parts

I'm a new member to the site, and I bought a CPO 2006 GX in silver Titanium in the fall, with 48,000 miles. The original owners drove the car back and forth to florida for the winters, so 90% of the miles are highway use. I'll put up pictures in the spring, as the current conditions outside are preventing me from doing any type of detail work to make it good enough for photos.

I have noticed many of you have replaced the rear emblems with the black chrome "L", as well as the Lexus and GX470 emblems. For some reason, I can't find a link to buying these second two emblems. did you paint them yourself, or am I missing the correct site? Also, if I do this mod, I am going to do it all the way. Has anyone replaced/painted the chrome strip above the license plate? also the chrome strips below the side windows, headlight assemblies and the front "L" on the grille?

It's not that I do not like chrome, but I like the black chrome look better, as long as it ALL matches.

I've done the reading on opening the headlight assemblys, and painting them, but if there is an option of a factory made black chrome reflector I would be interested in buying a set. same for the other chrome pieces, as the finish is probably more durable.

Pickle they added even more chrome on the 2009 model. The side door handles are now chrome instead of the color of the car and the luggage rack on top is mostly chrome along the sides now. I actually like the old way better.

Too much chrome makes the GX look like a soft roader SUV, I bought it because I wanted a formidable SUV/truck. I love the creature comforts and ride comfort onroad, but I prefer it to look more conservative and stealthy. I hate the "hey! look at me!" chrome. Now, if it were a Shelby Cobra on the other hand... then I would want it to have chrome everything!

New chrome strip on the rear gate finishes what starts on each side of the vehicle. Looks like it's missing without it.

As for the chrome door handles, I have no opinion. I could keep 'em or lose 'em.

There's also chrome accent rings around the speakers on the inside of the doors. Absolutely a must for dressing up ther interior befitting a $50K rig.

To answer your question...

The only factory Black Chrome items available are the emblems. You can get them at Sewell (forum sponsor) here:

http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/par....asp?id=197373

If you put the discount code CL911M you will get the forum discount.

The other parts you are going to have to have painted.

Thanks for the info, I was only able to find the emblems also. Has anyone tryed to remove the window chrome pieces to paint them? I have seen pictures in here of people who have removed the front grille to paint, but how does it hold up in the long run? especially in a winter climate.
