Default Need To Add A Back Up Camera

Hello everybody, I have a new addition to the family since Sunday Feb 10th and would feel more comfortable with a back up camera. Does anybody know where I can get an after market camera for my 2003 GX that can be integrated with the factory nav screen? Thanks for your help.

Proud new Papa

I looked into this as well and was told its not easy to do if at all possible with our nav screen, i have a 2004 and want this as well but i think we may need to go aftermarket to actually get it done.

i'll be watching this thread in case some1 has a good answer/solution.

Thanks
Dan

Not cheap but it's a backup camera solution with extra video inputs to integrate with the NAV screen

Has anyone here used this product or bought from this company?

There is also a guy on eBay who sells what he says will work. Here is a link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Lexus-GX-470-Vid...mZ320219624601

If this link doesn't work, search for a user on eBay by the name of: cardemand
He does have 100% Positive feedback and sells them for many cars. Cost is $200. Cost for GNet product is $279, but may have more features.

I'm highly considering the ebay item and looked at the seller's feedback rating. There was someone who purchased it for their GX and i sent him\her an email asking if its as good as the "sales pitch". I'll share the response when I get it.

I did notice that with both input devices you still need to buy a backup camera so I did some research and found this aritcle from ebay. Good buying tips for the camera.

I talked to a rep at GNET (URL is above). Might be a better product for $80 more.

Also, I looked into cameras. BOYO makes both license plate cameras and flush mount cameras. License plate camera sells for $172. Flush mount -- $115.

Still unsure if this is something I want to attempt to do myself.

It is not easy to take off the back panel of the GX470. If anyone knows that trick, please advise. It looks easy. But, I was not able to do it when I had a problem changing my license plate. The dealership fixed it and did not charge.

Also, you will have to hook the camera up to power in the backup lights. The adapter needs power too. Perhaps from the lighter.
