GX style
I have been trying to decide which style to make the GX because stock is not an option. please let me know which style you like the most.
1. racing style:
tint
quad exhaust
most likely TRD supercharger
20" or 22" racing style rims
yokohama/BFG g-force/Perelli ultra high performance tires
red brake calipers
black headlights
2. Off-road style:
tint
lift (if possible)
dual exhaust
18" or 20" off-road style rims
32" or 33" BFG/coopers/toyo all terrain or mud terrain tires
removal of running boards
maybe taillight guards/grill guard
maybe black headlights
please add any suggestions you have to each style or something new
Thanks
Will

Personally, i would go for the off-road look. I don't see the GX being a nimble race car.
It doesn't have the look to go with the racer look...it's too tall and kinda narrow looking. Thus, you're left with off-road look. Here is what I would do IF i had a GX470 (or a 4runner):
1. Tint front window (not ghetto, but legal) to closely match rear privacy glass (if possible)
2. BFG AT KO 32" (265/70/17) or equivalent AT tire (REVOs, Michelin A/T-2, or Goodyear SilentArmor)...do not go any bigger because of rubbing unless you lift it above 2". Remember, with a lift, you take away the Lexus electronic shocks, which is a shame to throw away. In addition, you may decrease durability of some components in your front suspension/steering.
3. Junk running board
4. Rock sliders from ARB or Hanna or Shrockworks...IMHO, the ARB slider/step is the classiest option; however, i hear that ARB is not offering it for the 4runner.
So, check first with ARBUS.com. See this thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...threadid=30885
These mods should make your GX look really cool. There are two additonal steps that you may want to consider to make your GX into a monster:
1. 1" front lift to even out the GX...the 1" should not cause any issue with your electronic front shocks, stability control, or CV leakeage. This small front lift should get rid of the nosedive/butt lift on the GX (& 4runner). In addition, you will get slightly more frontal clearance for off-roading.
2. ARB rear locker with on-board air compressor...this mod will make your GX into an off-roading monster! A locker can make you go places where you could not before with confidence. The air compressor will allow you to air up your tires with ease quickly. In addition, i think that it can power air tools too.
If you do all of the mods above, then your GX will easily keep up (and beat) >95% of SUVs/trucks out there.

thanks for the reply
one thing is i dont think the gx will look like a monster unless it has a lift or larger tires to be noticibley different from stock. I am not that much of a hardcore off roader but if i do anything i go mudriding. so i dont think that i will need sliders but i deffinetley want to take off the runnung boards if i go off road style. it will give it more of a higher look. im not only interested in performance but really into the look of the vehicle. its hard to make the GX stand out as there are not many aftermarket products available. i really like the offroad look but i think the racing look would be much easier to accomplish. but i havent decided yet. i like the way that this gx turned out:
hows that G500, what mods have you done?

G500 is doing well...here was our last off-road meet: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...threadid=29323
Mods include: 265/75/16 (32") Firestone Destination M/T, rocksliders, & tow hitch. No other mods planned at this time. With these simple mods, i can follow my brother's Jeep Rubicon 98% of the trails. (G500's do come standard with lockers...so, this is why i recommend ARB for you.) For me, i want to make my truck to be as capable as possible without sacrificing on-road ride/comfort. Remember, our trucks are NOT Jeeps where you can modify it with high lifts and big knawly tires...whatever you do to it, you must still maintain some class (aka good taste).
Before lifting, i would do extensive research into it...the good and bad of lifts in an IFS-equipped SUV. IFS does not like to bend too much out of it's original geometry...something will leak or break. Be careful.
