Agreed it would be disconcerting to a luxury vehicle owner.

I am a few weeks out from having the TSB done and have just experienced my first hiccup for the GX. HOWEVER, I am not sure that it is related to the TSB.
My VSAC TRAC Warning light came on and stayed on for a 10 mile drive yesterday. It disabled my entire Traction Control System as well as Rollover Protection. Has anyone had this happen? Today, the light is off and everything is working. I'm hoping this was just a fluke, as I only have 2000 miles left on my warranty...

If it happens again, take a picture of it... I had a similar situation in my BMW... 500 miles from the end of the warranty, my ABS light comes on out of nowhere. Turn the car off and on again, light stays out... 500 miles AFTER my warranty is over, light comes on again. Reboot. 200 miles later, light is on again. Reboot. 100 miles = light. Fortunately, for each activation after the initial one, I took a picture of it (mileage and the light on) with my cell phone. Took the car into the dealer, they indicated it could be a number of things, and it would not be covered under warranty since I was past the mileage allowance. Pleaded my case (and sent the pics) to BMW HQ in NJ. They called me back and told me to drop the car off at my dealer; they'd cover it... Mind you, this was the 100K CPO coverage! Needless to say, I was very pleased...

That is not the clunk. If the VSAC TRAC Warning light came on, its one of your sensors.

Right, but could one of the sensors been damaged (or the wiring to the sensors) during the repair for the clunk? I think you have to disassemble the rear suspension to replace the trailing arms. I can easily imagine some careless tech letting the axle dangle by the sensor wires

The simplest possibility would be that the poster hit the button that engages the 4WD differential lock (for which there is no onboard warning light by itself). Of course it is not likely that he wouldn't have noticed the ride difference or would have turned it off by mistake also, but just something to ponder in the mix.

Are you sure? I could have sworn that a little green light goes on in the dash when you hit the locking center diff button. I'll check it out at lunch and report back with my findings

Edit: Well I was half right - the light is actually yellow Also, in addition to the little center diff lock symbol lighting up in the tach, the "VSC Off" light will automatically turn on right next to it once the center diff is locked.

No, I did not hit the Center Lock Differential Button. That was the first thing I checked for.
And Yes, I have in fact had the TSB done on my vehicle. Again, I am not sure if the problem was related or not. But it is for sure the only thing that has gone wrong (temporarily) so far. I was really curious if this is something that happens regularly for others in this forum, TSB fix or not.
Thanks for all your input!

Common problem? no, but there have been maybe a dezon report of similar warning lights on this forum. The problem with those set of warning lights is that it can be cause by a number of sensors to a malfunctioning ECU. Since your warranty is almost up, I would ask the dealer to hook up their handheld and see if they can punch up any codes.

Just a quick update: This problem has NOT reoccurred since its first time. Something to note: I was on a dirt parking lot when this occurred. Maybe that had something to do with it? Whatever the case, I'm just happy it went away! I love my GX!

I had my Clunk fixed a month ago and the truck is very unstable on the highway. The rear suspension under loads feels very twitchy which could be symptoms of what I think are: either the rear needs to be re-aligned or a shock has gone bad. Keep you all posted.

Default Clunk - Transmission/Driveshaft???

I have a 2007 GX470 (April 07) that occasionally clunks at idle or when shifting. Is this the same symptoms experienced by others on this thread? If so, can someone re-post the TSB information that worked to fix it so I can pass to my service tech? I just didn't have time to find it through the 37 pages of threads.

Thanks!
