Default Help with decision

Hey all Ill try to be brief. I am very close to pulling the trigger on a 2006 GX470 but before I do I need some input. I am coming from a 2005 nissan pathfinder, and I want to know how the GX really is. How is it on the beach, snow, mountains ect.. Is the KDSS that much better, is it worth the 16 week wait? What is with the "clunk" I keep reading about. Please any and ALL info that you may think will help me would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning towards 2006 Black onyx or Titanium w/dark grey w/ the black birds-eye maple trim (sport package only..hense the 16 week order). Thank you in advance.

Default I found KDSS to be a MUST if you want anything

even approaching "handling". In fact, I affirmatively did not care for the truck w/o it. You MUST find one and test drive it to know for sure.
Also, remember that the people here are largely enthusiasts and will notice things the average person will not. You need to take a nice long test drive under a variety of circumstances and see for yourself.
As for the wait, I am 10 weeks into one myself. I'd rather wait and get what I want then settle and be PO'd for the next 2,3,5 or more years I own the vehicle. I hear I've got another 2-3 weeks or so to go.
Hope this helps!

Jim

Post GX is a lot better off road than people give it credit for

Hey Prayn4sno,
I used to have a 96 pathfinder that I had upgraded with KYB superclass shocks and struts that had BFG AT 29x10.5 tires. That thing would go anywhere, I am a SAR medic in a county that goes from the desert to seasonal snow conditions at 6700 feet. Not always, but sometimes half the battle is just getting to the rally point or CP. In late '04 I had the money for a nice SUV but I wanted the best mix of capability and luxury.

I wanted to buy the '05 Nissan Pathfinder offroad edition(came with rancho suspension stock) but they stripped half the luxury items out of it that would otherwise be in the LE version.

I have had my '04 GX with KDSS in the dirt and snow and have been very impressed. The only thing I plan on doing to it is going with either BFG Rugged Trail or Revo's. A lot of people have been swearing that the Revo's are great I just have never had them onboard. May at somepoint take off the running boards but I will just wait until they actually get dinged.

I have been in situations where things like the DAC on the GX would have made a serious difference. Almost flipped the pathfinder a time or two coming down very steep angles.

Hope this helps
