Default Problem with nav

Alright so for the first time we used the GX to go on a long drive. Anyway, I used the navigation to see how well this thing works. Everything was working fine for 2 hours (it was a 4 hours drive) until we stopped at a service area got some gas and got back on the road and the navi was like lost. Everything was weird becuz it kept on saying we were on particular highway when we were no where close to that highway. Then it was like saying we were driving thru rivers and fields and it was like totally off. I pulled over and turned off the ignition and turned it back in after 3 minutes hoping the system would reset itself but nothing.

Everything was fine when we stopped at another service area and the truck was off for about 10 minutes. Everything worked fine for the rest of the way. On the way back home from our trip, same exact thing happened again. I really hope nothing is wrong with the navi itself. Could it be that it's a 2003 GX and the navi is back dated? If I update the navi software would this problem be solved? Any one encounter anything like this?

I have this problem when my XM radio interferes with the NAV. But I can always tell because the little green [GPS] symbol right under the compass on the screen disappears.

If it happens again, check to see if that green [GPS] symbol is there or not. If it IS there and the system is lost, that sounds like a problem with the system. If it's not there, it just means the NAV has dropped the GPS signal for some reason. Could be interference from something in the car like an XM or something outside the car. I think the GPS satellites pretty well covered the US so you wouldn't have drop out areas due to that.

If this happened in the exact same spot, there might have been rivers and fields in those areas a few years ago!

Just today I was in the next town and decided to go a different way based on the map in my 06GX. There was a whole road system that wasn't on the map, and I almost went straight instead of turning left. I think that system was built in the last few months. It's hard to keep up in some areas - in our area entire roads sometimes stop or let out somewhere else in a week's time!
