If you can do the Nav override code, this is very much the same. You press the Display button, then you do the upper left, lower left, three times. You will get a new screen. Then touch Menu on the screen, you will get another screen. Touch the bottom choice on the menu. That will turn on the Camera.

I am so excited when I found this only thread that discussed how to manually activate the backup camera. Then I realized I did not have a 'Display' button.

I have an 04' LS with UL, anyone know what the sequence should be?

lex430,

Problem easily solved... hold down the INFO button then Turn your parking lights (ie or lights in general) on and off 3 times while holding the info button... this will get you to same menu (or at least I hope so on the LS)

thanks

This only works on 04 trucks and older... 05 and 06 just get a GREY screen...

I got the diagnostic menu, but similar to a post above. I see a button with "Camera Check", and when pressed, it takes me to a grey screen with version number and another button that says "ok". No image.

On a 2005 GX with the V5 disk this doesn't work, but the trick of holding INFO and turning the lights on and off does.

I could not get the first method (Display and then touch upper left and lower left three times) to work, as everytime I touched the lower left hand corner, I kept adjusting the contrast. However, robinzn's method for LS (hold Info button and turn on/off lights 3 times) worked beautifully on 2004 GX-470! Thanks!

The first method works fine with my 2004 GX470.

You have to stay within the center section of the screen, not all the way to the corners

My '06 gives me the gray test screen also. Is there a wire we can apply power to, with a bypass switch, that will display the rear camera anytime?

Default Back Up Camera Overide

Hi All:

I have been trolling this thread (and others) for a very long time about the above referenced topic and find that my 2005 GX does not allow for the backup camera to be activated while driving and I have tried EVERY know Easter Egg mentioned! If anyone knows of one that will work, I (along with others) would appreciate a post.

Thank you!

It doesn't work in my 06 either...Toyota caught on and disabled this easter egg on the 05.

to turn on the camera
try this.
after you get the screen with camera check, tap the camera check.
you should get a grayed/greened screen with some warnings at the bottom.
from that screen, do the following...

tap
top middle
bottom middle
top middle
bottom middle
top middle
bottom middle
top middle
bottom middle
top middle
bottom middle

and the camera will turn on.
do it with the engine running.

Thanks maniaclx47!!! This works on my 04 LS. I just couldn't get out of the diagnostic menu w/out shutting the car down and turn it back on.

Is there anyway to get out of the diag screen w/out turning the car off? A previous post stated to hold down the "Display" button for few seconds, but there is no such button in the LS.

Any other suggestion?
