Default Looking at getting the GX470 as...

...a swap for my current '01 RX300 Silversport.

What is the general opinion of the car (except for the lously gas mileage)? General issues with the '06 models? (I know about the drive shaft/clunking).

I am looking at around $45-46K for a fully loaded sport model...basically my negotiations will start at around dealer invoice Any other deals going on that I should know about right now?

Is there a better/more reliable SUV out there then the GX?

Thanks for the owner insight...

GX is the best vehicle I have ever own so far, it actually gets pretty good gas mileage compare to other V8 SUV. I know of no other issues beside the shaft/clunking, which is pretty minor to begin with. I think Lexus is at the top right now as far as reliability is concerned.

P.S. I think it will be very hard to find a sport edition at invoice price because there are so few of them available.

Thanks for the info...I have already (without negotiations) got any GX at invoice +$300...and if they don't have one (they have 40 on the lot) they will get one from another dealer.

I am also going to go for a ride in the X5, and new ML to see how they compare.

I traded in my 1 year old 04 RX330 for the 05 GX470, since I wanted something with more power and more rugged / manly vehicle. The GX470's V8 engine makes you a fan very fast. The power it generates is beautiful and you tend to not care about the gas mileage as much, since it's so worth it.
