A few photos from one of my last jaunts in the Santa Lucia Mtns about 10 miles North of Big Sur.

Yes, its pretty special. Each of the canyons has a creek framed in redwoods and waterfalls. Toward the top, huge virgin oak tree groves stand untouched for 100's of years. From the bluffs on clear, sunny days, one can see large groups of grey whales migrating in the Fall and Spring. All distractions when navigating trails with a little more than a foot of clearance on either side. The roads were originally built for a *****'s jeep, so anything bigger is exciting.
