After going through the toucheless carwash last weekend the weather stripping that runs from the roof and down the side of the windshield came loose.
The black weather stripping was sticking out about 3-4 inches of the groove........ right where the windshield meets the roof.
I tried to jam it back down in the groove, but it refused to stay put.
I checked the passenger side and it seemed loose as well, but not actually popped out of the groove.
Anyone else experience this problem?
(Please dont say "better start washing your own car"........this still should not happen.......cars should be able to withstand standard car wash facilities)
Not quite that extreme, but I just noticed this weekend that the strip had lifted about an inch or so. Mine is near the top where it bends as it transitions from the windshield to the roof. Both driver and passenger sides were lifted a little. I was able to push it back down, but it still feels a little loose.
The dealer has a part on backorder to fix my sunroof (motor or cables or something is messed up and it clicks and grinds when you open/close it). When they call me to bring it in, I am planning to mention the weather stripping thing.
I've had my 2003 looked at least twice for the same thing. I don't know what they do to fix it, but it doesn't seem to work real well. I just keep telling them about it when it goes in for servicing. My RX300 had a similar problem.
I've been through about 6 car washes (hand only) so far and after reading these posts I went outside to check my GX. Fortunately, it's intact and looking OK. Sorry to hear about yours. Sounds like a defect of some sort. The dealer should fix it and not charge you for it!
