Can't speak for the coastaltech part, however the mod for my GS430 DOES enable bluetooth phone dialing as well as enabling everything for navigations (i.e destinations, menus, etc)

Looknow:

What did you have done to your GS to make the navi work while in motion?

Thanks.

It's been posted here in the GS forum (possible under DVD while in motion). You terminate the parking brake wire to ground, and interrupt the speed sensor wire with a switch. The exact colors have been posted somewhere in the GS 3rd Gen forum. It works for a length of time (about 45 -60 secs) and then stops. Mainly because the NAV system isn't stupid. It eventually realizes you're moving because your global positioning continues to change. Easy to correct: you simply turn the switch back to normal for a few seconds, and then back to off.

Yeah, not because they enhanced their product, but because it's the same set of factory wires.

They gain a feature by inheritance.

Default NAV Destination updateing rom Coastaltech

Looks like the price of this just went up to $99. Still don't know if the unit will work in a GX470. I've emailed them to ask if they have one that will and, if so, what the delivery time is.

Default Warranty Problem

I have read all of the articled here and really like what I have read. I too am frustrated, but the bigger question is will the introduction of this have any effect on the manufacturers warranty? My guess is that if we go poking around with the electrical system, they could void the warranty.

Also, can anyone help me with Verizon service and bluetooth? What shoud I do - I have heard a lot of bad things about phones being disabled - do I get a bluetooth phone and a modified chip for the phone or do I keep my LG and have the hands free kit installed (I already own the kit)

Let me know your thoughts

Hi Kal,

When I bring the car into dealer, I just remove the unit first... What DVD/NAVIGATION mod, I don't know what your talking about...

It's simply a plug and play unit so no cutting of the wires is involved and so it will not VOID the warranty!!!

I just called them again yesterday to find out if my unit is ready to ship yet... I've waited 6 weeks already... Hope it comes soon!!! Full review when I receive the unit...

Default Coastaletech Nav Kit

Can anyone verify that the Nav Kit will actually work with the Lexus? Their web site is very specific about Prius--no mention of Lexus. They haven't responded to my email.

Lex,

As soon as I have it delivered to me, I can verify that it will work. As per my original post weeks ago, this is product MAY work on the GX but since it is relatitvely "cheap", I decided to take a risk. The young lady whom I spoke to on the TELEPHONE, said that it should work, and that my PRE-ORDER from weeks ago, is already denoted with LEXUS GX470 next to it...

Hope this clarifies the issue for you?

Thumbs up Input address while in motion!!!

I don't know if most GX members here venture over to the 3rd gen GS, but here's a simple bypass that E55 did for the 3rd Gen GS, requires no tool.

Works great, only downfall is you have to do it everytime you start up.
Does not work for bluetooth
I don't know if it'll work for the 03 or 04, but 05 works fine
