How does one change the licenses plates? The manual is silent on this matter, like so many others.

Do you have caps over the screws on your license plate? If so, then just pop the caps off and unscrew screws to remove plates. |

Caps! Who'd a thunk. They looked like some special security fastener requiring a tool issued only to vetted technicians with a high security clearance. They do pop off, I must say.
